Holy Morning Sickness

Let me start this by saying to all of you women who have dealt with morning sickness or Hypermesis Gravidarum, I applaud you for making it through it. Holy cow. When I was pregnant with Reilly, I did have some on and off nausea but mostly I suffered for debilitating migraines. I always said I'd rather deal with nausea than migraines. That still might be true though I'm not too sure now. Yesterday, I hit 6 weeks of pregnancy and celebrated with a bang. I invited my toilet, a trash can, and all the food I'd eaten at the Super Bowl party the night before and we just had a blast. Yes... For the first time, I threw up while being pregnant... Not only did I do it once... No, I did it FIVE times. All within a span of 2.5 hours. I was completely worthless the rest of the day. I was so nauseous and weak that I couldn't do anything. I was literally confined to the couch all day. At the advice of some of my friends who've dealt with bad morning sickness in the past, I swallowed my pride and called my doctor asking for something to help alleviate some of this. I just couldn't function. My doctor gave me three bottles of samples of Diclegis which has been a life saver for me. I took a pill last night and it allowed me to wake up and actually function today! Not only did I not throw up, but I actually had an appetite. Yes, I was still incredibly nauseous this morning but wanting to eat again and being able to function was a BIG win for me. I can tell I'm going to need to eat bigger breakfasts because I was starving by 10:30 AM today.

Tomorrow is the big day! We have our first ultrasound. Understandably, I'm pretty nervous. This ultrasound has not gone well in the last two pregnancies. The first miscarriage we had last June showed a sac with the remainder of the yolk sac and what was the remnants of our baby. Not a pretty picture. The second miscarriage showed a beautiful baby that was unfortunately measuring two weeks behind and had a slow heartbeat. The baby actually died the next day, but we didn't know for two more weeks. So, needless to say I NEED this ultrasound to go well. I have a feeling it will but I can't help but be nervous considering how 2016 went for us. I'm still having plenty of pregnancy symptoms which make me feel like this is going really well. Morning sickness for one is a GREAT symptom to have no matter how much it sucks. My boobs are insanely sore and have been for awhile. I still get some cramps on and off. I'm also still extremely fatigued. All of these normally mean things are going well so fingers crossed. I'll update tomorrow!
