12 Weeks, 6 days!
We are so close to the second trimester, I can't believe it! So much has happened in the last month I'm not even sure where to begin!
I'll start off saying that I found out I am RH Negative (O- Blood type) so I'll have to have a shot at 28 weeks pregnant to make sure that any other babies I have in the future are safe. I also found out I'm Strep B Positive (a kind of UTI) that will require me to take antibiotics during labor to make sure I don't pass it to the baby if I end up with it again. Lots of fun, right?
At my 11 Week appointment, my doctor wouldn't even entertain the idea of listening for a heartbeat. I really wanted to hear a heartbeat before my vacation since we would be announcing while we were there. A Disney World announcement... How could we resist? So, I opted to purchase my own doppler and it arrived only a few days later! My husband and I looked for about ten minutes and then we finally heard that blessed sound. 170 something beats per minute... The little heartbeat just pumping away! It was a beautiful sound! So, we left on vacation feeling wonderful and blessed! Here are the announcements we made!
They were a huge hit! Disney while pregnant deserves a whole blog entry in itself so I'll do that at a later time. It's definitely different and not without its breakdown. ;)
When we got home we listened to the heartbeat again on the doppler. The beautiful sound was between 165 and 175. It was just the most amazing sound in the world. Knowning that is going on inside you in a strange feeling though. I mean, you know you're pregnant but at this point in the pregnancy I still don't feel "super" pregnant. I don't even know how to explain it other than I still feel relatively normal.
Thursday, we were able to see our little one on an ultrasound for the second time and wow has Bee changed! Bee was moving all over the place and kicking and sucking its thumb! Not to mention it had a heartbeat of 167 which is so strong! We had a small amount of genetic testing done at that ultrasound and we have a 1/1500 chance of Bee having Down Syndrome and a 1 in 5300 chance of Bee having a disorder like Trisomy 18 and such. So, great news! Bee passed with flying colors. We were even told we were pretty boring on our family history (they like boring). Here are some pictures we took home from that ultrasound!
Bee is a little soccer player just like Mommy! Doing bicycle kicks already!
I love this profile shot. So sweet!
You'd think with a picture like this it'd be obvious what gender it was but at this stage, both genders look pretty much identical down there.
Speaking of gender! Our Anatomy Scan is scheduled for December 11th at 10 AM when I'll be a little over 20 weeks. It's very exciting that we'll know the gender before Christmas! We'll probably do some kind of Christmas themed gender reveal which would be really neat. Hubby's idea!
That's all that's really new with us regarding Bee! It's a very exciting time and we could not be more blessed and proud of our strong little miracle!
